The Bezier Bowl
This piece is named for the French mid-century engineer/designer Pierre Bezier (BEH-see-ay) who used a particular type of curve in the 1960’s for designing Renault cars. In creating the surface design for this bowl, I applied a grid to the surface of a solid plaster model, then used it to create a layered geometric design employing many such curves. Much of the process is documented in my IG feed. I make my own molds, casting slip, glazes etc. This piece is food safe. The interior is glazed. The exterior has glazed and unglazed, wet sanded surfaces that are polished smooth to a satin surface. The unglazed surfaces are vitrified and water tight. The result is a bowl that is both visually and tactiley interesting.
